Situated in the picturesque foothills of Cupertino, California, adjacent to the Stevens Creek Reservoir, the Sunnyvale Rod & Gun Club has been serving shooting enthusiasts since 1959. This non-profit establishment is dedicated to providing a safe and engaging environment for both public and members to engage in various shooting sports.

Facilities and Offerings:

  1. Rifle/Pistol Range:
    • Offers 10 lanes each for .22 caliber rimfire rifles, pistols, and centerfire rifles, all ranging from 25 to 100 yards. Shooters have the choice of steel and paper targets.
    • Hours: Tuesdays 10am-9pm, Saturdays 9am-3pm. Fee: $25/day.
  2. Trap Fields:
    • The club boasts five trap fields, supporting singles, doubles, and handicap trap shooting.
    • Hours: Tuesdays 5pm-9pm, Saturdays 9am-3pm. Fee: $8 per game.
  3. 5-Stand:
    • A unique shooting sport, combining elements of trap and sporting clays. Offers varying target presentations, suitable for beginners to experts.
    • Hours: Saturdays 9am-3pm. Fee: $9 per game.

Membership: Sunnyvale Rod & Gun Club offers its members benefits such as access to facilities during other hours, discounted shooting rates, and group buys for firearms and ammunition. Those interested in membership are advised to check out the “Join Us” page for detailed information.

Safety and Regulations: The club places utmost importance on safety. The rules ensure that everyone from beginners to experienced shooters can enjoy the facilities without compromise. Key rules include:

  • Shooters under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • English proficiency is mandatory to understand range safety commands.
  • Selling or conducting firearms-related business requires management approval.
  • Specific rules apply for each facility, such as the Rifle/Pistol Range and Trap Fields.



  • The club does not provide rentals or sales of firearms and ammunition. Additionally, lessons are not on offer.

Visiting Information: The club may remain closed on certain holidays. It’s advisable to consult the club calendar before planning a visit. Cash is accepted universally, whereas credit cards are taken only at the Rifle/Pistol range.
