Located in the heart of Alaska’s Kenai Peninsula, between the cities of Kenai and Soldotna, SnowShoe Gun Club stands as a testament to the rich history and commitment to firearms education in the state. Established in 1970, this club boasts the title of being one of the oldest and the largest private shooting facilities, spread across 423 acres.

Facilities:

  • Four Clays Fields for those who enjoy clay shooting.
  • A long-distance 1000 yd. Rifle Range for rifle enthusiasts.
  • Ten diverse Pistol Bays.
  • A 300 yd. Tactical Gun Range.
  • A 180 yd. Black Powder Gun Range dedicated to black powder firearms.

Membership Information: While SnowShoe Gun Club is a members-only facility, any individual who can legally own a firearm is welcome to apply. However, note that all new memberships and renewals necessitate passing a Range Safety Quiz before approval. Membership information and renewals are also available during Clays Shoot on Sundays from Noon to 3:00 pm.

Range Reservations:

  • Reservations are essential, especially for Agency and Corporate Members.
  • Family Memberships, however, cannot reserve ranges.
  • Check the SGC Calendar for availability before making reservations.
  • Reservation fees: Free for educational, youth, and non-profit organizations. For-profit entities are charged a $500 per day fee.

Areas for Improvement: Some members of the public have voiced concerns over limited access, stating that the club might not always be open to the general public, leading to some disappointment.

  • They’re a non-profit entity, primarily driven by its members’ motivation.
  • The club operates from 6 am to 10 pm, providing ample time for members to engage in their shooting activities.
