Welcome to the Metropolitan Rod & Gun Club – a haven for hunters, fishermen, archers, and shooters alike. With hundreds of enthusiastic members at its core, Metro stands tall as a symbol of sportsmanship, conservation, education, and utmost safety. Here, member volunteers drive the spirit of the club.

Facilities & Amenities:

  1. Brooklyn Club House: Nestled in the historic Cobble Hill District, this landmark building boasts:
    • A top-level archery range.
    • A basement dedicated to pistol and small bore rifle enthusiasts.
    • A grand club meeting room on the main floor, displaying a stunning array of trophies.
    Location: 162 Pacific Street, Brooklyn, New York 11201 (sandwiched between Court and Clinton Streets). Easily accessible from the Borough Hall stop on the 4/5 and the Court Street on the R.
  2. Hunting Property in Hancock, New York: Spanning a whopping 972 acres in the French Woods area, this property is complemented by the adjoining state game lands, all of which members can access.

Special Events: Come Spring, members and their guests can indulge in the Venison Dinner & Awards Night. This is a splendid occasion where achievements are acknowledged and outstanding members are lauded.

Membership Criteria:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Aged 21 or above.
  • Strong character references are essential.

Membership Process:

  1. Attend a minimum of three club meetings on 3rd and 4th Thursdays each month at 8 pm (Dates may vary around November and December holidays).
  2. On the first meeting, fill out necessary paperwork, validate U.S. citizenship, and pay the application fee to attain “Prospective Member” status.
  3. Engage and introduce yourself to club members during these meetings.
  4. Partake in selected club activities under the guidance of a member.
  5. Once vetted, you can be introduced for official membership during a general meeting (on the 4th Thursday of the month). Following an interview, you may be granted full membership. Dues are then payable for the rest of the calendar year.

Shooting Criteria: For pistol shooting, a New York City handgun permit is a must. Rifle enthusiasts need a New York City rifle permit. It’s encouraged for shooting members to join the NRA and undertake the NRA Basic Pistol or Rifle course.
