Founded in 1910, the Wilmington Trapshooting Association (WTA) has long been the epitome of trapshooting excellence in Delaware. This premier shotgun shooting facility is recognized for its dedication and commitment to the sport, as affirmed by its affiliations with the Amateur Trapshooting Association and the National Skeet Shooting Association. Additionally, it proudly stands as the Home Club for the University of Delaware’s Trap and Skeet Team.

Key Offerings:

  1. Events & Schedules: Regular shooting activities, such as the WTA’s Fall Classic, are organized, though some might be subject to weather conditions. Their National Trapshooting Month Shoot is especially popular, held every October. Entrants for this event even receive a unique NTM Tee-shirt (while supplies last) sponsored by Miller’s Gun Center.
  2. Safety & Training: New shooters are required to undergo safety and shooting instruction. This not only ensures a safe shooting environment but also instills confidence in beginners. The instruction is led by NRA and 4-H certified instructors, further emphasizing WTA’s commitment to quality and safety. Please note that all personal shotguns are subject to a safety inspection.
  3. Membership Benefits: With an annual membership fee of $70, members receive numerous benefits, including reduced prices for practice rounds of trap and skeet, an exclusive WTA decal upon joining, and the privilege to attend the Spring League Picnic. The facility’s dependence on volunteers makes it essential for the community to be active and engaged.
  4. Facility & Equipment: While WTA provides top-notch facilities and shooting ranges, they don’t rent or loan shotguns. Nevertheless, their dedication to maintaining a high-standard range is evident through their meticulous inspection of personal shotguns for safety.
