Nestled in the heart of California is the Mataguay Rifle Range, an exceptional outdoor shooting haven. Set amidst tall, shady trees, this range offers multiple covered firing lines suitable for rifle, pistol, shotguns, and muzzleloading. Beyond traditional shooting activities, visitors can hone their archery skills with two distinct ranges, and a unique 3D archery shooting trail.
Adjacent to the range, nature lovers will appreciate the scenic natural lake teeming with Bigmouth Bass, Bluegill, and other species. Summer visitors have the additional benefit of two swimming pools to cool off in, and refreshing showers to wash off the day’s activities. For the adventurous, the vicinity boasts real rock climbing, a high ropes course, and horseback riding opportunities during the summertime. A short hike will also lead enthusiasts to the renowned Pacific Crest Trail.
Adding to the overall experience, visitors have mentioned the quality of food available, which doesn’t disappoint. However, potential visitors should note a couple of things. The location can get dusty at times, which might not be comfortable for those with respiratory issues like asthma. Also, the range primarily functions as a youth camp and may not be regularly open for adult activities. A minor inconvenience reported by a visitor was the absence of cold water at the hand-washing basin during their stay.
