Located in the serene hills of Morongo Valley, the Hi-Desert Rod and Gun Club stands at the gateway to the Yucca grade, serving the high desert communities since 1976. As a non-profit, open-to-public organization, it’s a hub for both dedicated and occasional shooters, boasting affiliations with both the NRA and CRPA.

Features:

  • Safety First: A dedicated NRA certified “Range Safety Officer” supervises the firing line at all times, ensuring safe shooting and offering guidance to shooters.
  • Facilities: The club provides 10 covered shooting stations compatible with standing, sitting, and prone shooting positions. Furthermore, special events like Ladies Only shoots, .22 small bore matches, Steel Challenges, and sessions for muzzle loaders keep the enthusiasts engaged.
  • Fees: Members and non-members can access the range at different rates, with special discounts for active military personnel and their families.
  • Membership: Offering both individual and family memberships, members enjoy benefits like discounted pricing, voting rights at meetings, community engagement, and access to informative newsletters.
  • On the Range: A well-laid-out range with separate shooting lanes for both rifle and pistol enthusiasts. Distinct target stands are placed at varying distances, catering to beginners and experienced shooters alike. However, the range has a strict policy against steel core ammunition due to safety concerns.
  • Trap & Shotgun: With various shooting modes available, including singles, handicap, and doubles, there’s a flavor of challenge for every trap and skeet enthusiast.

Feedback from Visitors: Visitors often praise the club for its excellent staff, with several reviews highlighting the eagerness of staff to instruct and assist, especially less experienced shooters. Not only is the range considered well-organized and clean, but it’s also user-friendly for both first-timers and veteran shooters. The facility offers portable toilets, although visitors might want to bring their own food and drinks. A small picnic area provides space for a mid-day break.
