Nestled in the San Bernardino National Forest, Big Pine Flat Recreational Shooting Site #1 stands as the most spacious among the three designated shooting sites in the Big Pine Flat area. Boasting a length of approximately 100 to 150 yards, this site backs up to a scenic hillside, making it an ideal location for rifle target shooting or long-range target practice. Pistols and shotguns can also be used here.

- Well-suited for both rifles and pistol target setups.
Weaknesses:
- Some visitors have noted litter in certain areas. Guests are reminded to maintain the site’s cleanliness by packing out what they bring in.
- Currently, there are no restroom facilities and no water sources available.
Notable Information:
- The shooting site is temporarily closed due to high fire restrictions. As of 9/17/2023, this restriction will last until 01/31/2024.
- Before visiting, shooters should call the Activity/PAL Level number at 1-909-382-2997 to check the status of the shooting area for the day.
- It’s crucial to listen for Area 692 guidelines regarding shooting timings.
