Elk Neck State Forest offers a comprehensive Shooting Range Complex open from 9:00 a.m. to sunset, Tuesday through Sunday. On Mondays, operations start at 1pm and continue until sunset. Even on holidays, including Mondays, ranges are available from 9 AM until sunset.
Range Features:
- Four dedicated ranges: 100-yard rifle/muzzleloader, 50-yard pistol, skeet range (thrower not provided), and a bow & arrow range.
- All shotguns on the rifle range must use a slug shell. No shot shells are allowed.
- Users must supply a free-standing target stand, ensuring the target center is a minimum of 54” above the ground.
- Elk Neck State Forest does not provide firearms, ammunition, or targets for rent or sale.
Permit Details:
- Yearly permit: $50.00 (18-61 years), $25.00 (62 years and above)
- Daily permit: $10.00 (Those under 18 are free with a paying adult)
- Permits are available at the Maintenance Complex near the main entrance and also online via the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Sport License Sales.
