Located conveniently between Mountain View and Calico Rock, the Sylamore Shooting Range is an open-air shooting facility, offering enthusiasts two distinct shooting experiences.
Features:
- A 200-yard-long rifle range equipped with 12 shooting benches. Target stations are available at intervals of 25, 50, 75, 100, and 200 yards, with targets up to 100 yards being accessible.
- A 50-yard-long pistol range, which is wheelchair accessible. It boasts 8 firing lanes and one shooting bench. Target stations are spread at 7, 15, 25, and 50 yards.
- Covered firing lines for protection against inclement weather.
- To ensure the environment remains clean, there are no trash containers on-site. Visitors are encouraged to practice the ‘pack it in, pack it out’ principle.
- One vault toilet is available for convenience.
Visitor Info:
- Guests need to come prepared, bringing their own targets, stands, and attachment materials such as tape, thumbtacks, or staplers.
- No fees are charged for using the range, but donations are appreciated for the upkeep and replacement of target frames.
- Operation is during daylight hours only. Note that the range is closed every Wednesday morning, from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm, for maintenance work between March 15 and October 15. Also, occasional closures occur when ADC conducts training sessions.
- Alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited on the premises.
Getting There:
- From Mountain View: Travel north on Arkansas Highway 5 for 13.5 miles.
- From Calico Rock: Head south on Arkansas Highway 5 for 8 miles. Look for the ranges on the east side of the highway.
